The destroyed artwork was reported on social media by the artist himself.
The incident occurred on July 19, when Russia launched a massive ballistic missile attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region.

“The warehouse in the Bucha district, on the outskirts of Kyiv, where the artwork ‘Three Perfectly Proportioned Spheres and White Military Camouflage’ was stored, was hit by two ballistic missiles on the morning of July 19,” Ai Weiwei wrote.
The artist also shared a photo of the surviving artwork and images of the destroyed warehouse.
The installation was first presented in Kyiv last September – at the 13th pavilion of the Ukrainian National Economic Achievements Exhibition.

At that time, Ai Weiwei described the artwork as “a dialogue about war and peace, rationality and irrationality.” The installation was the artist’s response to the increasing conflicts in the contemporary world.
The artwork was commissioned by the RIBBON International Foundation. It was exhibited in Kyiv until the end of autumn 2025, and later, likely moved to a warehouse.
Last August, Ai Weiwei visited Kharkiv, where he visited the combat positions of the “Charter” brigade.
