The investigation was initiated by the VRK upon receiving a report requesting an assessment of the article published on June 2nd on the “Delfi” news portal titled “Seafaring taught leadership and inspired the creation of an international business.”

The reporter pointed out that the publication describes A. Trušas’s studies and career. “Delfi” informed the commission that the publication was released at the initiative of “Vilnius Tech” and was prepared by the client under a verbal publicity agreement.
In turn, the university noted to the VRK that the publication was initiated to promote studies and is a public relations project of the higher education institution that has been ongoing for several years, aimed at presenting the successful career stories of alumni.
“Neither during the interview nor in the transcribed text was there any hint of possible political activity,” the VRK statement quotes the response from “Vilnius Tech.”

The purpose of the publication, unrelated to local government elections, was also confirmed to the commission by A. Trušas himself.
The Liberal Movement announced in the second half of May that he would be a candidate for mayor of the port city in next year’s local government elections.
Born in Klaipėda, 42-year-old A. Trušas holds a bachelor’s degree in transport engineering from the Lithuanian Maritime Academy and a master’s degree in business management from Klaipėda University. In 2013, he founded the company “OJ Crew,” which employs seafarers and which he still leads.
