Late Tuesday afternoon, after landing from Warsaw (Poland) via Germany, officers of the VSAT Vilnius Border Unit working at Vilnius airport determined that one of the passengers was a 47-year-old man deported for violating Polish laws, who was registered in Lithuania as a person without a place of residence.

In addition, the border guards found out that on June 10, 2022, the Kėdainiai police issued a search for this man. Convicted for a criminal offense, he avoided serving the court-imposed sentence, began to hide, and, as it turned out, fled from Lithuania.
After informing the initiators of the search about the incident, VSAT officers placed the Polish-deported man in a temporary detention facility and later handed him over to the capital city police officers who arrived at the airport.

This year, over more than eight months, VSAT officers detained 388 persons (323 at airports) who were wanted by Lithuanian and foreign law enforcement agencies for various crimes or offenses. Of those detained, the vast majority, 361, were citizens of our country, 8 were from Latvia, 5 from the United Kingdom, 3 each from Belarus, Moldova, and Russia, 2 from Ireland, and 1 each from Norway, Romania, and Turkey.
In 2025, border guards detained 798 wanted persons (583 at airports). Most of them, 698, were Lithuanian citizens. There were 37 Russian citizens, 15 from the United Kingdom, 11 each from Belarus and Latvia, 4 from Ireland, 3 each from Moldova, Sweden, and Ukraine, 2 each from Israel, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, and 1 each from Belgium, Germany, Greece, Mongolia, Pakistan, the Philippines, and the USA.
