US President Donald Trump late Monday stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to cancel a military raid in Beirut, and Hezbollah agreed that “all shooting will stop.”

“Parliament Speaker Berri’s main demand is a general ceasefire” and “if an agreement on a general ceasefire is reached, he will ensure that Hezbollah abides by it,” said advisor Ali Hamdan.

He said that “a general ceasefire means stopping Israeli strikes from air, land, or sea,” as well as that “it will not carry out bombings or demolitions” in southern Lebanon, where Israel is accused of leveling entire villages.

“Through high-ranking representatives, I had a very good conversation with Hezbollah and they agreed that all shelling will stop – that Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel,” Trump said.

Iran claims that a ceasefire in Lebanon remains among the main conditions for any agreement with the US to end the war in the Middle East.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who is also the country’s chief negotiator, said Monday evening that he spoke by phone with N. Berri.

M. B. Ghalibaf told his Lebanese counterpart that “if Israeli aggression against Lebanon continues, we will not only halt the negotiation process but also directly confront the enemy,” he wrote on the social network X, referring to Israel.

Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported Monday that Tehran is no longer participating in talks with Washington over the Israeli offensive in Lebanon, although there was no official confirmation.
