As Žmonės.lt states, D. Lavrinovičius said the family sent their daughter last year to the private international school “Royal Russell,” located in the very center of Vilnius.
“This year Leyla is already in second grade. At five years old, she attended preparatory class, and last year she was in first grade,” he told the Žmonės.lt portal.
Wife’s decision
According to the interlocutor, the search for schools was mostly handled by his wife Edita.
“We chose a British school – very convenient because it is very close to our home. And my wife found out that all the specialists there are very good, practically all from Great Britain,” says Darjušas.

Interestingly, all the family’s children were sent to international schools – the eldest son Titas and his brother Darjušas Jr. graduated from the International American School. The Lavrinovičiai followed the “tradition” with the youngest as well – little Leyla started her studies in English from the very first days.
“In the primary grades, there are assistants, Lithuanian teachers who work with first graders who do not speak much English yet. Since it is a private school, we still wanted it to be in English, and at the same time, for Lithuanian to be strongly emphasized.
So I think we found an optimal option where Lithuanian language would not suffer and English would be strong,” the man said.
And according to the father, the girl goes to school with enthusiasm.
“The child, of course, awaited September with some anxiety, but I would say she really wanted to go there. Since her brothers are already grown up, it seems she wants to grow up as soon as possible too. I think the parents are more worried than the child,” he smiles.

After the first year, Leyla showed that she has a solid foundation in English.
“It’s still early to say anything, but her English has improved significantly. It is clear that she attends an international school. It’s hard to say now, the important thing is that she likes it, that she wants to go and learn. She gets along well with classmates and teachers, which is pleasing,” the interlocutor shares.
From a very young age, the girl also attends various extracurricular activities: “She dances, attends ballet, and is somewhat involved in music. She likes it. Of course, sometimes she prefers dancing more, other times music, so we try to take her where she likes.”
The couple prepares for September every year in advance – with exercises and school supplies, they get everything a few weeks before the school year starts.
“Like all parents, we want to prepare the child for school so that she goes already prepared. We are no exception. We also try to shop for the most necessary supplies. The last week is the busiest for us; you can still forget something in the rush,” says D. Lavrinovičius.
The man himself says he used to go to school quite willingly. However, not exactly for the reasons you might think.
“Probably September 1st was always a kind of initial stage – to meet, share summer adventures with classmates, since we hadn’t seen each other for several months. I didn’t always want to study, but I went to school quite willingly – first of all, because of friends. Of course, later, when I matured, I realized that studies should come first,” he insists.
