“It raises concerns how a person appointed to responsible positions does not always behave as they should. But it is necessary to know the actual specific facts,” the head of parliament told LRT.
The news portal “Delfi” reported on Monday that before returning to the VRK, L. Matjošaitytė consulted “Nemuno aušra” regarding the membership fee and helped prepare the party’s response to the commission.
Having become a member of the VRK last May, L. Matjošaitytė did not publicly declare this fact. She also did not disclose whether she received payment for work for “Nemuno aušra,” claiming that the information is related to her professional activity as a lawyer.
Robertas Puchovičius, vice-chairman of “Nemuno aušra,” confirmed that he communicated with L. Matjošaitytė but stated that he does not recall her providing services to the party or receiving payment for it.

From 2017 to 2021, L. Matjošaitytė was the chairperson of the VRK. She returned to the commission member position last May, with her and lawyer Maksimas Reznikov’s candidacies submitted by then Minister of Justice Rimantas Mockus, delegated by “Nemuno aušra.”
In May 2025, the newly composed commission decided on violations of the political campaign financing of “Nemuno aušra.” In some votes, L. Matjošaitytė agreed that the party committed violations, while in others she abstained.
As the Chief Official Ethics Commission (VTEK) informed BNS on Monday, a personal report regarding L. Matjošaitytė’s possible violation of legal provisions was received on Monday, and the commission will assess whether to initiate an investigation on this matter.
In turn, Minister of Justice Rita Tamašunienė says that first this situation must be evaluated by VTEK, and if violations are found, further actions will be decided.
