“We just spoke with US presidential representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. They are preparing for a meeting and corresponding talks with the Russian side, as well as a visit to Ukraine (…) We discussed what can be done to encourage Russia to take the path of ending the war,” said the Ukrainian leader during his evening address, quoted by the portal “Ukrainska pravda”.

V. Zelensky also added that intelligence – both Ukraine’s and Kyiv’s partners’ – currently reports that “the Russian leader himself, as before, wants war,” despite the fact that “the absolute majority” of Russian society “would agree to end the war at the contact line.”
“We will see what the US presidential representatives manage to achieve. September can change a lot, so together with partners we need to do everything possible to protect people, save lives, and ensure peace,” said the Ukrainian president.
He also reported that on Monday he heard a report from the commander-in-chief of the armed forces and the Security Service (SBU) about Ukraine’s long-range strikes in response to Russian shelling.

“We are preparing our steps. New steps,” said the president.
He reiterated that it is also important that agreements reached with partners on aid to Ukraine are practically implemented.
“With the prime minister and Ukraine’s diplomatic team, we thoroughly discussed the measures for September. Much has been planned,” noted V. Zelensky.
