P. Sanchez earlier on Monday rejected any responsibility of Moroccan officials for the sudden influx of migrants into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta a month ago.
The Spanish Prime Minister also stated that the migrant influx into Ceuta is still under investigation and condemned what he called false information spread by the far-right about this incident.
“After July 30 and 31, rumors and disinformation spread from social networks related both to Russia and Israel, as well as from the far-right international, which always uses migration not only to attack Spain but also to attack and divide Europe,” P. Sanchez told the mentioned radio station.
Tensions in Ceuta, with a population of 80,000, rose after at least 60,000 people arrived in this Spanish enclave within a few days in July, causing concern across Europe about migration.
The Spanish government says that the majority of arrivals have already left the 18.5 square kilometer area, but thousands of migrants still roam the streets and sleep on the beaches.
