“The goal is to move the soldiers’ remains to an honorable place, because this (current – BNS) place is unsuitable for them, as city celebrations and events are held there, people dance there, people sing there, and there is no proper respect for the soldiers,” said the mayor of the municipality Gediminas Ratkevičius to BNS on Tuesday.

He spoke this way after Russia summoned Lithuania’s temporary chargé d’affaires in Moscow on Monday to condemn the alleged desecration of Soviet soldiers’ remains.
