T. Valys will meet next week in Finland with the EIB president Andrejus Kuusvek (Andrej Kuusvek) and will discuss the bank’s possibilities to finance the factory expansion and other important Lithuanian defense and security infrastructure projects, the ministry announced on Friday.
“In the coming years, Lithuania and our entire region will need very large investments in defense infrastructure, military mobility, and security, so we see an important role for the Nordic Investment Bank here. The bank’s increasing focus on defense perfectly matches today’s challenges, and its value is not limited to financing alone – the bank’s regional perspective and experience make it an exceptional partner,” T. Valys said in the statement.
The Minister of Finance said that if it is decided to further expand the factory in the future, increasing its share capital will be considered.
“Everything will depend on how this stage ends and what the need will be. If the expansion of production is deemed inevitable, without any doubt, we will consider this scenario,” T. Valys told journalists at the construction start event in Giraitė, Kaunas district, on Friday.

According to him, the aim is for the Giraitė factory to be competitive in international markets, but at the same time, sales in the domestic market are also intended to be expanded.
“The main priority is for the company to be as competitive as possible in international markets, because we see that current actions are oriented towards this. The company has definitely achieved these goals (…) The desire is for the company’s growth processes to ensure greater trust from international partners and buyers,” the minister said.
“What we see now is that export markets are quite diversified, strong, a strong line is occupied, but the desire is that as much as possible we could also stimulate sales from the domestic market,” T. Valys added.
