50-year-old Jenny Lupton was found dead last week after falling from the 24th floor of a hotel building.
Lupton, who lived in Oklahoma and raised one child, worked as a flight attendant for the airline Southwest Airlines.
Her sister Tresa Lupton said that Jenny went to Hawaii with colleagues.
“She just went with one of her fellow flight attendants. They danced, had fun, and had a good time,” Tresa told News9. “While there, she even got a tattoo.”
Tresa Lupton explained that her sister was in Hawaii for work and planned to stay there for a couple of days before returning home to Oklahoma.
The Honolulu medical examiner’s office informed the family that, according to preliminary data, Lupton may have fallen from the balcony of her hotel room on the 24th floor.
However, the family does not believe that Lupton committed suicide and calls for a thorough and independent investigation into the circumstances of her death.
According to the Lupton family, hotel security staff informed them that the police are reviewing footage from more than 70 nearby surveillance cameras. Officers do not yet know if anyone saw her fall.
Tresa Lupton told News9 that her sister’s body was found near a trash container by a hotel employee.
“I couldn’t believe it and tried not to accept that it was really happening,” Tresa told KFOR. “It all feels unreal.”

Lupton’s sister plans to travel to Hawaii to bring her remains home and find out what happened.
Southwest Airlines said in a statement: “The entire Southwest Airlines family is deeply shocked and saddened by the death of our colleague during her stop in Hawaii. We have expressed condolences and offered support to her family and coworkers. We are also cooperating with local authorities investigating this incident.”
According to the family, Lupton worked as a Southwest Airlines flight attendant for 29 years.
After her death, a fundraising campaign was started on GoFundMe to support her relatives.
“This fundraising campaign was created to help Jenny’s family during this incredibly difficult time,” the GoFundMe description reads. “Every donation will help ease this burden and provide her loved ones with much-needed support as they face difficult days. Jenny was one of us. She was part of our work family.
She shared sky adventures with us, worked alongside us, laughed, and touched the lives of many people. And just as we are together in good times, we will now be together with Jenny’s family.”
The fundraiser was started by one of Lupton’s colleagues. She states that all the money raised will go to support the Lupton family.
“No amount is too small. Every euro, every share, every prayer, and every act of kindness matters,” the GoFundMe page says.
“Maybe you knew Jenny personally. Maybe you worked with her. Or maybe you just understand what it means when our work family comes together for one of our own. This is our chance to show Jenny’s family that they are surrounded by love and support. We cannot erase their pain. We cannot change what happened. But we can be there. We can unite, help them carry this burden, and remind Jenny’s family that there are good people by their side.”
