One of the most striking innovations is the “Gemini”-powered destination search (“Destination Search”). Instead of manually entering an address or object name while driving, you will be able to talk to Waze as if it were a person.
For example, the driver will be able to ask to find a nearby café, gas station, or another desired place.
This is especially relevant while driving: the more actions can be performed by voice, the less often you need to touch the phone or the car’s multimedia screen.
This new feature is initially being tested with a narrow group of users.
You will be able to report problems in your own words
The voice reporting capabilities of Waze are also being expanded. The app already allows reporting traffic incidents or obstacles in natural language, but now this system is being improved using “Gemini.”
The driver will no longer need to search for the exact category describing the problem. They will simply be able to say aloud what they see on the road.
Moreover, voice can be used not only to inform about the current road situation but also about inaccuracies in the map itself. For example, the driver can report a closed road or an incorrectly marked address. Such information can be forwarded to local Waze map editors who will verify it.
Navigation will remember which roads you prefer to take
Another important innovation is personalized routes. Until now, navigation apps primarily tried to offer the optimal route based on travel time, distance, and traffic conditions. However, not every driver always wants to take the fastest route.
One prefers highways, another wants to avoid complicated city intersections, and a third always drives a well-known road even if it is longer.
The new Waze system will analyze previous trips and take this into account when suggesting routes. If a driver consistently chooses a certain road, such routes may be suggested more often in the future.

For those tired of constantly talking navigation – new “Less Chatty” mode
Constant navigation talking can sometimes be annoying. On longer trips, when the driver listens to music, radio, or podcasts, frequent navigation notifications can start to irritate.
For this, Waze is preparing a “Less Chatty” mode. When selected, navigation should speak less often and provide only the most important tips or warnings.
This does not mean that navigation will be completely silent. Essential information needed to follow the route will remain, but voice notifications should be reduced.
Separate mode for motorcyclists
Another big innovation is the updated “Motorcycle Mode.” It should not only select routes more suitable for motorcycles but also more accurately estimate their travel time.
Other nuances are important for motorcyclists as well. Therefore, navigation will be able to warn about potholes, speed bumps, raised pedestrian crossings, narrow bridges, or places where the shoulder ends.
More warnings about dangerous road spots
Waze also continues to expand the range of warnings shown to drivers. The app is introducing or has already started introducing notifications about sudden speed limit reductions, speed bumps, sharp turns, merging lanes, and school zones.
