“At the meeting, we focused a lot specifically on the 2028–2034 EU multiannual financial framework and program. We agree that we must strive to reach an agreement on it this year – by the end of the year,” the president told journalists after the meeting with the President of the European Council (EUC) Antonio Costa on Wednesday in Vilnius.

He emphasized that new European challenges cannot be addressed by weakening what has “strengthened the European Union for decades” – Cohesion, the Common Agricultural Policy, and the competitiveness of states.
