The old tree did not withstand the storm and fell.
This small-leaved lime was about 23 meters tall, its trunk circumference was 4.74 meters. The trunk branched into six large branches. And the crown was 12 meters, its width – 16 meters.

This special lime grew near Anykščiai, in the Pavariai forestry, in the Variaus hydrographic reserve.
A month ago, together with specialists from the landscape protection department, who conducted monitoring of natural monuments, we visited it and were glad that the old tree, although wounded, although with deep cavities, is still green.
Specialists have not determined its age, but based on the trunk circumference, they estimated that it could have been about 150–250 years old,” – it is written on the Facebook page of the Aukštaitija Protected Areas Directorate.
The Directorate reports that trees and electric poles also fell in Sartai Regional Park, and part of the park infrastructure was damaged. Roads are blocked in Krekenava Regional Park. The lime was broken in the famous Daniliškis alley.

There is still no electricity on the Tree Canopy Trail – it is not open to visitors.
The Directorate warns that it will take time to repair the storm damage.
