The president appointed Liudvika Meškauskaitė as a member of the LRT council

L. Meškauskaitė is a lawyer, attorney, a figure in the Lithuanian Bar Association’s self-governance, a specialist in media law, human rights, constitutional, civil, and criminal law, an associate professor at Vilnius University and Mykolas Romeris University, and a public figure.

In 2004, she was awarded the Medal of the Grand Duke Gediminas of Lithuania by the president.

L. Meškauskaitė was appointed as a new member of the LRT Council, replacing Giedrius Jucevičius who resigned in March. The head of state chose from two candidates; lawyer Vytis Turonis was also considered for the LRT Council.

G. Nausėda has also appointed the current chairman of the LRT Council Mindaugas Jurkynas, his deputy Rėda Brandišauskienė, and Renata Mendeikienė.

The LRT Council consists of 12 members in total. Four members are appointed by the president and the Seimas (two from the ruling majority and two from the opposition), and another four members are appointed by the Science Council, the Lithuanian Association of Artists, the Lithuanian Bishops’ Conference, and the Lithuanian Education Council.
