The purpose of the measure is to promote sustainable aquaculture activities, primarily to increase the competitiveness of aquaculture product production, ensuring that the activity is environmentally sustainable in the long term.
Supported activities:
- investments in increasing the production capacity of promising fish species (including algae and crustaceans) (Activity 1);
- investments in the added value of aquaculture products (including processing and primary processing) (Activity 2);
- investments in the use of energy from renewable energy sources (hereinafter – RES) in aquaculture and processing (installation or acquisition of energy production capacities using RES) (Activity 3);
- investments in the modernization of existing aquaculture production capacities to maintain them when there is a justified risk of their loss (Activity 4);
- investments in measures that increase energy and other resource consumption efficiency and decarbonization (including circular economy investments) (Activity 5);
- investments in climate change adaptation measures and/or measures reducing the negative impact of aquaculture on natural water bodies (Activity 6);
- investments in direct sales and the application or implementation of marketing measures (Activity 7).
It should be noted that more than one activity may be carried out under the project. Related investments in appropriate safety and working conditions are eligible for all activities except Activity 3.
Project activities may be carried out from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2029, but no longer than 24 months from the date of signing the project contract.
Eligible applicants
Project implementation plans may be submitted by small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), large enterprises, and individuals engaged or intending to engage in aquaculture.

The applicant must have a veterinary approval or registration or commit that the veterinary approval or registration will be granted no later than the date of submission of the final payment request.
Please note that project implementation plans with partners are not submitted.
Maximum possible support amount and intensity
The maximum possible support amount per project according to the supported activity:
- 2,400,000 EUR when Activity 1 is carried out in the project;
- 500,000 EUR when Activity 2 is carried out in the project;
- unlimited amount when Activity 3 is carried out in the project;
- 90,000 EUR when Activities 4–7 are carried out in the project.
Support intensity rate:
- no more than 60% of all eligible project costs when the applicant
meets the SME status; - no more than 50% of all eligible project costs when the applicant
does not meet the SME status.
Submission of project implementation plans
Project implementation plans and attached documents are submitted to the NMA by filling out an electronic form through the Ministry of Agriculture information system (ŽŪMIS).
