The 21-year-old from Šiauliai is seeded 14th, and in the first round, the draw paired him with Swiss representative Kilian Feldbausch (ATP-235).
For the 20-year-old tennis player, this will be his debut in a Grand Slam tournament, and like V. Gaubas, he feels most comfortable on clay courts.
The winner of this pair in the second round will face either Brit Liam Broady (ATP-201) or Italian Marco Cecchinato (ATP-173). By the way, the latter is a former world No. 16, who reached the Roland Garros semifinals in 2018.
After overcoming this barrier, in the third round, one of these four tennis players would await – Stefano Travaglia (ATP-140), Harry Wendelken (ATP-203), Remy Bertola (ATP-182), or Alejandro Moro Canas (ATP-240).
So far, V. Gaubas has had his best results in New York at the 2024 debut, when he reached the qualifying final. Last season, he suffered a loss already in the first qualifying round.
