On Saturday in Latvia, as of 8 PM, electricity supply was disrupted for approximately 108 thousand customers of the distribution network operator AS “Sadales tīkls” (ST), the company reported, based on information from LETA.

ST, based on information provided by the electricity transmission system operator AS “Augstsprieguma tīkls” (AST), indicated that after 7 PM transmission network disruptions were recorded in Liksna, Nereta, Viesīte, and Birži. Due to these, electricity supply was disrupted in the municipalities of Augšdaugava, Aizkraukle, Viesīte, and Jēkabpils.
Before 7 PM, technological transmission network disruptions were also recorded in the surroundings of Ludza, Zilupe, Krāslava, Dagda, Ilūkste, and Subate, as well as in the municipalities of Ludza, Krāslava, and Augšdaugava.
Electricity supply was also disrupted in Ugāle and its surroundings in the Ventspils municipality. Meanwhile, in Jaunpils and its surroundings in the Tukums and Dobele municipalities, electricity supply was quickly restored.
AST network workers are eliminating technological faults and striving to restore electricity supply as soon as possible.

Damage was also recorded in the distribution network. Most faults were caused by wind-broken trees and their branches, as well as lightning. Both ST and AST workers are working to restore electricity supply to consumers as quickly as possible.
On Saturday afternoon, due to heavy rain, some streets in Riga were flooded. The city’s deputy mayor Edvards Ratnieks reported that water levels rose sharply under the Akmens and Salu bridges, and traffic became difficult in places and may be completely closed.
By 3:30 PM, 76 weather-related incidents were registered in Riga – mostly flooded streets, as well as basements and first floors of some buildings being flooded. In Latvia, various levels of dangerous weather warnings, including red, have been issued due to the storm and very heavy rain.
