A week later, the Nîmes prosecutor’s office announced that DNA tests confirmed the identity of the woman – 29-year-old Sonia Bellina, a social media creator with more than 250,000 followers on the TikTok platform.
On her account, Bellina posted videos in which she danced, sang along to recorded songs, and also talked about fashion and relationships. She also interacted with her followers during live broadcasts.
Although she lived in Paris, Sonia regularly returned to the Gard department in southern France, where she was from, and spent time there with her family.

One of the detainees was already known to law enforcement for several violent crimes. He is suspected of being the last person to communicate with the influencer on the night she disappeared.
A woman presenting herself as Bellina’s sister recounted the night of her disappearance: “At one o’clock in the morning, she told us: ‘I’m going to meet someone, I’ll be back soon.'”

“She didn’t take a purse or anything else – she just left. Around two o’clock in the morning, her phone was turned off. We tried calling her. Nothing. The phone was off,” she added.
On Monday, the French newspaper Midi Libre spoke with a woman introduced as Bellina’s older sister. In the video, she said: “She ended up with the wrong person at the wrong time.”
In another video circulated on social media, one of the young woman’s sisters said she feared Sonia had become a victim of the man she was dating. She added that the family did not know who he was.
The family lawyer Mourad Battikh, speaking to the news agency AFP, condemned what he called “unspeakable cruelty” online, where people comment on videos in which the young woman shows off her appearance.
“We will take legal action against anyone who commits a legal offense,” he warned.
