The consumer price index rose by 2.9% over the 12 months to July, compared to 2.6% in June, according to a report from the National Statistics Office (ONS). This increase was driven by a 13% rise in energy price “caps” applied to residents from July, which is considered a consequence of the ongoing war between the US and Iran.
