“In most places, the facade is damaged by erosion, with peeling plaster and paint layers. The insulation layer finish of the walls is damaged.

In some places, the building plinth is cracked, and plinth erosion has been observed. The foundation stone is loose. Moisture is observed in many places, which damages the plinth and interior finishes of the building,” the inspection report from last September states.

The report also noted structural damages.

“During the visual inspection of the building structures from inside and outside, cracks in the partition structures and walls were found on the first and second floors,” the report signed by three experts states.

It was recommended to install protective nets on the building facade to hold falling plaster pieces – this is intended to prevent injuries to people passing by the hall.

On Tuesday, the hall’s founder, Klaipėda Municipality, announced that it is purchasing design and supervision services for the hall’s renovation works.

More deficiencies are also listed in the public procurement documents.

“Corrosion-damaged metal roof structures, improperly formed roof slope causing water retention, deformed wooden structures of the canopy, damaged by rot (…) crumbled and erosion-damaged roof tiles.

Internal building pipelines – water supply, heating – are in emergency condition, frequent breakdowns occur,” the design assignment states.

Based on it, a precise work plan will be prepared.

The building housing the Klaipėda Concert Hall was built in 1890 and last underwent major renovation in 2005.
