“Rescue operation near Palanga pier

At 20:13 a report was received about two drowning children. One child was saved, unfortunately, the life of the other teenager could not be saved.

The search for the teenager’s body lasted about an hour and a half. The body was found on the sea bottom,” lamented K. Pirožnikas.

Then Kajus addressed all parents vacationing by the sea with children.

“Dear parents, protect your children. Do not leave them alone by the sea and do not allow them to swim without adult supervision. The sea can be merciless even when it seems calm.

Be responsible. Your children’s safety is in your hands,” emphasized the chief rescuer of Palanga.

Žmonės.lt reminds that at 21:22 the body of the 17-year-old was found 57 meters from the drowning site, at a depth of 3 meters. Medics confirmed the youth’s death.

Witnesses said that the young man fell into the water after slipping from the rocks on the shore. People on the beach who noticed the accident tried to help – holding hands they tried to reach the drowning person.

According to preliminary data, the 17-year-old youth had come to Palanga with his mother and cousin from Poland.
