Livija and Marijus Gradauskai are a university couple. Having started studying together at the Vilnius University Institute of Journalism, the young students quickly became friends. Over time, their relationship grew stronger and eventually turned into strong feelings.
With almost the same easy step, Livija and Marijus also moved towards marriage – after finishing their studies, they pledged eternal love to each other. However, on August 9, 1996, the vows given at the Marriage Palace, according to Livija, were the element of their celebration that most reflected the wedding traditions of that time.

“At that time, weddings were held according to rural customs with all the appropriate symbols – matchmakers, escorts, and tables laden with salads. I didn’t want any of these things, nor a fancy dress, nor a big celebration. Fortunately, Marijus also couldn’t imagine loud traditional weddings involving the whole family, so we held a small celebration,” Livija previously shared with Žmonės.lt.
