“My Ąžuoliukas…

Today you are 30… But it feels like just yesterday I saw you for the first time – so tiny, born far too early into this world. Less than a kilogram of a person, and already then – so much incredible strength and will to live.

Looking at you in the hospital, I asked for only one thing from life – to leave it to me.
I named you Ąžuolas because I wanted you to be strong. And today I understand – you brought strength with you.

You grew up with your character, stubbornness, and big dreams. As a child, you told me: “Mom, all of Lithuania will know me.”

I smiled. I believed.

And you were right.

Today many people know you. But I am proud not of that.
I am proud of the person you have become.
So today I wish you not more success, but something much more important – be truly happy, son!!! Love and be loved! Protect those who love not your name, but you!

And when you get tired of being strong, remember – there is a place where you never have to prove anything.

At mom’s.

To others, you are Ąžuolas Misiukevičius.
But to me, you will always be my Ąžuoliukas.

And thank life that it allowed me to be your mom.
And… if I had to start everything over again – I would choose you again.

Always you.

Happy birthday, my Ąžuoliukas,” writes Donalda.

The letter from mom was also responded to by Ąžuolas himself.

“Mom, I read it several times, and there was a lump in my throat, and more than one tear fell! All our moments together! How much I love you, how grateful I am to have you! We will still create moments! I love you!” he wrote.
