Four objects are obstructing

Participants gathered here for the protest action urged, as they stated, “to move towards progressive city planning, based on the preservation of the natural framework, recognizing natural banks as an important city health and climate resilience infrastructure.”

According to the organizers of the action, the greatest concern at the moment is caused by several objects planned or already being developed on the banks of the Neris: the new Žirmūnai rowing base, a sauna complex in Vingis Park, the expansion of the Winter Port, and a residential quarter at Žirmūnų St. 3A.

The first three projects belong to the Vilnius city municipality, which has already faced criticism several times for these ideas and their implementation.

The last one is a residential quarter planned by the company “Hanner” on a private plot. The area has been quite neglected until now. As seen in photos taken by 15min in April 2024, the fence standing from Neris Street had almost collapsed, inside there were several also dilapidated buildings and a hangar in somewhat better condition.
