“Plant-based drinks are one of the main categories of plant-based nutrition products. They feature different flavors and textures, making them suitable for various dishes. Previously, they were more often chosen by vegans, vegetarians, or people intolerant to lactose, but today they also interest those who want to include more plant-based products in their diet. Promoting a balanced diet and environmentally friendly choices, Lidl ensures that quality plant-based drinks are available at a low price,” says Monika Anilionė, Sustainability Manager at Lidl Lithuania.

A wide selection of “Vemondo” plant-based drinks is offered in Lidl stores at very attractive prices: soy, rice, almond, oat, coconut, and rice drinks, as well as a creamy oat drink specially made for coffee. Those who want to consume more protein can choose natural, vanilla, or chocolate-flavored soy drinks with higher protein content.
A better nutritional choice
Plant-based drinks contain neither lactose nor cholesterol, so they may be suitable for consumers avoiding these substances. Plant-based drinks, especially oat drinks, also contain fiber, which is important for smooth digestive system function.
Although calcium, important for bone health, is abundant in cow’s milk and its products, it can also be obtained by choosing almond or soy drinks.
“These products are easy to include in everyday nutrition. Soy drink is perfect for making unsweetened dishes and sauces, while naturally sweeter oat, rice, or almond drinks are great for pancakes, cakes, cookies, or smoothies. Oat and almond drinks have a creamy texture, so they can be an alternative to cow’s milk for coffee,” lists M. Anilionė.
Easily recognizable “Vemondo” brand
The “Vemondo” brand helps easily identify plant-based products in Lidl stores. It is also named as a strong and clearly recognizable plant-based product brand in the “Augalyn” study. The year-round assortment includes not only plant-based drinks but also tofu, vegan mozzarella alternatives, products made from mushrooms, legumes, desserts, ice creams, and cookies. An even wider “Vemondo” selection is presented during special themed weeks and the annual plant-based January challenge “Augalausį.”

“We want plant-based nutrition to be accessible to everyone – both in terms of choice and price. That’s why we offer plant-based products at Lidl at a low price and place them alongside other products in the same category. This makes it easier for customers to notice them and include them in their daily shopping basket,” shares M. Anilionė.
Private labels allow Lidl not only to offer low product prices but also to ensure high quality. Many Lidl private label products are made in the same factories as well-known international brands, so their composition is almost identical or even better, but the price is much lower. Lidl’s international presence also helps ensure low prices. The retail group orders some private label products in large quantities for thousands of stores in various countries. This scale of orders reduces the cost price of a single product, allowing Lidl to offer very attractive prices to customers while maintaining high quality.
The quality of “Vemondo” vegan products has also been recognized in the international “International V-Label” awards.
Plant-based products can be purchased in all 87 Lidl stores in 31 Lithuanian cities: Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Alytus, Marijampolė, Kėdainiai, Telšiai, Kretinga, Mažeikiai, Tauragė, Jonava, Panevėžys, Ukmergė, Utena, Plungė, Palanga, Elektrėnai, Visaginas, Šilutė, Radviliškis, Vilkaviškis, Druskininkai, Rokiškis, Kaišiadorys, Nemenčinė, Gargždai, Molėtai, Jurbarkas, Raseiniai, and Garliava.
