You invited fans to the last concert: unexpected news for fans: why the last one and will it really be the last?
ORESTAS VAIGAUSKAS: – My wife and I are not on speaking terms right now, we’re quarrelling… You know, we’ve lived our whole lives on the brink of divorce, like on a volcano. She even carried around divorce papers prepared in the glove compartment, just without a signature. And now she’s threatening me with that signature…
DŽILDA VAIGAUSKIENĖ: … (meaningfully silent)
O.V.: – No, well, she’s a wise woman, she always turned a blind eye to my missteps with students, with other ladies…
DŽ.V.: – Yeah, out of sight, out of mind. But I’m really fed up with his endless affairs…
O.V.: – On the other hand, honey, I once pulled you out of the abyss of alcoholism… 13 years of cigarettes never left your hands!
DŽ.V.: – Don’t call me honey!
O.V.: – Okay, okay, Mrs. Vaigauskienė. See, what kind of emotional background we live in! An artist’s work on stage is not easy, all that constant tension, temptation, then before, then after, all those gifts being drunk, those buffets… And the artists’ psyches are fragile… We’re not machines. So enough is enough.
DŽ.V.: – When, if not now? And those producers Mickevičius and Stasiulytė, with their bent fingers… We’re not some kind of livestock farm where you plow fields for food!
O.V.: – Well said, well done! Impressed! (Claps)
DŽ.V.: – The last one, period! Otherwise, divorce!
What to expect during the concert? We heard you’ll invite stars: can you reveal who they will be?
O.V.: – This is confidential information, you know, which we can’t disclose so that the producers don’t slap us with administrative fines later.
DŽ.V.: – There are already several pre-trial investigations ongoing, where our good name is being dragged through the mud. Various former acquaintances are still unhappy about facts revealed at concerts.
O.V.: – You know how it is these days – they slipped a contract to sign, we didn’t bring our reading glasses, signed it, and then when we read it later – hair stands on end at what we promised.

DŽ.V.: – We will speak only through lawyers!
How are you and your wife preparing for the performance? Are you training vocals, going to the massage room or gym, or buying new outfits?
O.V.: – Thank God, our house is big, 600 square meters, so we don’t meet that often with Vaigauskienė.
DŽ.V.: – It will be harder in autumn because we only heat 30 square meters, so we’ll have to meet then.
O.V.: – But don’t get me wrong, we are really preparing, training.
DŽ.V.: – I ordered 6 kilograms of clothes from a flea market, so until the concert, my acquaintance seamstress Algina and I have to alter everything.
O.V.: – The producers, bastards, save every euro, so they didn’t allocate money to the Statkevičius and others, we manage as best we can.
DŽ.V.: – Yesterday we partied with the neighbors, well, we trained our voices, and we sang very well.
O.V.: – No need to tell such details to a journalist, honey, kids and grandchildren will read it later…
DŽ.V.: – Don’t call me honey!
A relevant question: what happens after that? Is it really rest? We can’t imagine the Vaigauskai without constant activity.
DŽ.V.: – After that, I’ll go to the Music Academy rectorate with ultimatums to get my husband back, to kick that peacock into retirement!
O.V.: – I’m a Leo…
DŽ.V.: – Not a Leo, you’re a Virgo!
O.V.: – I was born on the edge!
DŽ.V.: – You know, I can put that signature on the divorce papers!
O.V. – Why do you react so sensitively, ma… my dear…
DŽ.V.: – I fight for my family’s happiness! No more concerts, no more students!
O.V.: – Well, see, the future is more uncertain than ever…
Although the couple is convinced that what they are going through now is like a life fog, which may or may not clear, one thing is clear as day in this situation: the farewell concert on December 19 at the Kaunas Sports Hall will definitely take place. This is the last chance to see Orestas and Džilda Vaigauskai live on the big stage, because legends don’t age – they just leave in time to rest.
