The practical demonstration will take place at the Firefighters’ Rescue School in Valčiūnai.
Before it, officers will present the overall statistics of rescue operations and traffic accident work.

R. Požėla and colleagues will explain the role firefighters play in traffic accidents, what equipment is used to free people, how decisions are made when dismantling car structures, and why a person cannot simply be pulled out of a car as quickly as possible.
There will also be discussion about first aid – what firefighters do before medics arrive, how witnesses of traffic accidents can help, and what is important for a person to know if they are conscious after an accident but cannot get out of the car.

According to data provided by the Transport Competence Agency, last week 85 traffic accidents were recorded on Lithuanian roads, with five people killed.
In turn, nearly 350 accidents occurred in July, with 16 people killed and over 400 injured.

In total, 70 people have died in traffic accidents this year up to August 9.
