Viewers will be invited to four artistic experiences – the premiere of an oratorio, a contemporary dance diptych, a symphonic music evening, and the final concert.
The head of the Klaipėda State Musical Theatre, Goda Giedraitytė, states that the axis of the festival program became the personality of Queen Luise and her connection with the port city.
“We arranged the program in response to this anniversary. One of the most important starting points was the legend that Queen Luise listened to Joseph Haydn’s oratorio ‘The Creation’ and was fascinated by it. This story determined the choice of the main festival piece,” she says.
The festival will be opened on Thursday and Friday precisely by this J. Haydn oratorio. It is said that the late classical work will “come to life on the theater stage in a new form, where music will merge with light dramaturgy and video projections.” The musical director and conductor of the production is Adrija Čepaitė, the director is Rūta Bunikytė.

On August 21–22, the festival program will continue with a diptych of dance premieres. In the performance “Decrescendo,” Swiss choreographer Marcel Leemann will explore the relationship between the individual and the community, while choreographer Agnija Šeiko’s “Borrowed Landscapes” will invite a look at the human connection with the environment and memory.
On August 29, the French National Youth Symphony Orchestra will perform. The program will feature symphonic works by Richard Strauss and Maurice Ravel.
The festival finale on September 5 will be crowned by Karl Jenkins’ “Symphonic Adiemus” concert in the courtyard of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Klaipėda University.
