He also stated that Russia will use the parliamentary elections next month as a pretext to announce a new mobilization, Reuters reports.
“We have passed our proposals to the US side. The United States can help strengthen our defense, primarily in the field of air defense, and put pressure on Russia to change its plans – to prepare for the end of the war, not its continuation,” the Ukrainian leader noted.
According to him, Ukrainian intelligence has evidence that Russia will use the September “elections” to announce a new mobilization to supplement combat personnel.

“They are preparing for mobilization in the fall, immediately after the staged parliamentary elections. Then, after the so-called elections, he (Putin) plans to hold an additional urgent mobilization of several hundred thousand Russians by the end of the year, and next year – the same number of soldiers,” Zelensky said, noting that this is part of a plan aimed at “creating the impression that Russians supposedly support the war.”
