A therapist accused of seducing and raping a teenager allegedly pretended to be his young girlfriend and arranged “secret meetings” with him. It is reported that Sofia Drotts, who worked as a behavioral health specialist, counseled the teenager while he was held at a juvenile detention center in Contra Costa County in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.

On Monday, San Francisco residents charged S. Drotts with offenses including unlawful sexual intercourse, oral sex with a person under 18, and sexual intercourse using a foreign object.
According to attorney John Burris, representing the victim’s family, S. Drotts allegedly began seducing the victim in 2024 when he was just 14 or 15 years old, after the teenager was assigned to her as a client.
The lawyer claims that later S. Drotts pretended to be the teenager’s girlfriend and, after he was released, maintained contact with him using a disposable (“burner“) phone. It was after the teenager was released, according to the lawyer, that the alleged rapes by S. Drotts occurred.
John told the “New York Post”: “Such duplicity is simply outrageous. She engaged in this despicable conduct and tried to cover her tracks with various lies.”
Investigators say the accused worked at the John Davis juvenile detention center in Martinez. Concord police, after receiving a report from the probation department head, arrested Drotts, but she has since been released.
John states that Drotts – reportedly a University of Wisconsin Madison graduate – used her position to establish a relationship with the teenager, who is now 17 years old. He also claims she tried to gain the teenager’s mother’s trust over the phone.

It was claimed that Drotts told the victim’s mother that the boy was doing well. Even after he left the facility, Drotts’ communication with him did not stop: she met with him and his mother, presenting herself as a county therapist.
However, John claims she also met with him in her car and apartment, where he even spent the night.
He added: “Drotts participated in these meetings with the mother and spoke in great detail about how well he was doing, while secretly meeting with him at the same time.”

John also said that his mother was “deceived” and did not know where he was when he spent the night at the mentioned person’s place. Furthermore, he stated that Drotts encouraged him to break the set curfew and skip classes.
A search was conducted at the teenager’s home, during which evidence was reportedly found.
According to him, it was then that his mother found out what was happening. She said: “We trusted this specialist with our son’s treatment and well-being, but that trust was completely shattered.”
