Called an important recreational area

“The Buivydiškės ponds and park have been an important recreational area for many years for residents of Justiniškės, Buivydiškės, and other surrounding neighborhoods. People used to walk here, relax, swim, and there were plenty of water birds – swans, ducks, and other species. This area is also historically valuable as it is connected to the Buivydiškės manor park.

This is one of the few places in the western part of Vilnius where you could at least briefly forget that you are in a big city.

Birds, which were once abundant here, I see less and less today. Swans, ducks, and other water birds seem to be gradually retreating from this area,” Jūratė says.

She also pointed out that intensive construction is taking place around. So, in the areas around the ponds, there are piles of soil, rutted places, tires, and other waste scattered along the shores.

“Questions arise about who is responsible for the current deteriorating situation of the Buivydiškės ponds area and what awaits them later.
