Meteo.lt reports that Thursday was hot in the southern part of the country. The highest air temperature was 27–33, and in some western districts 25–26 degrees.

The hottest was in Druskininkai, where the air heated up to 34.3 °C. The heat record until August 6 was just 0.2 degrees away (34.5 °C, Varėna, 1994-08-06). The night was warm, with the lowest air temperature 14–19 degrees.
In the evening and the first half of the night, summer storms formed. It rained briefly, locally heavily (≥15 mm). Most thunder was in Southern Lithuania, with squalls and hail in some places. According to preliminary data, wind speed during the squall reached at least 21–23 m/s, but there could have been stronger gusts.
From August 6 at 4 p.m. to August 7 at 4 a.m. (within 12 hours), 4297 lightning discharges were recorded in Lithuania. The storm passed over Lithuania in two directions. Another storm band passed south of Lithuania during the night.

The storm bypassed the capital Vilnius, although the municipal company “Grinda” was preparing for the worst-case scenario. “We are counting the storm’s consequences in Vilnius: 2 fallen trees. Yesterday we prepared for the worst-case scenario, and today we are glad it was not needed. The strongest part of the storm bypassed Vilnius,” writes “Grinda” on their Facebook page.
On Friday, there will be some short rain, mostly in western districts. Wind west, northwest, 8–13 m/s. The highest temperature 21–26 degrees Celsius.
