“In our beautiful homestead, the scene is terrible, like after a war. Not a single tree remains near the partisan leaders’ headquarters, even the oak that grew for about 200 years in the homestead is broken.

The roofs and apple trees were also damaged. There is no electricity, roads are blocked. Thank God, no member of the Jakavonis family was harmed because they managed to run into the house,” A. Jakavonytė wrote on Facebook.

Her photos show huge trees toppled on the banks of the Merkys, and the yard is yellowed from fallen apples.

Trees were uprooted and broken in the forest surrounding the Jakavonis homestead, blocking the road to the homestead, which is impassable, and those growing on the Merkys riverbank fell into the river.
