In June, industrial enterprises produced 4.6% less output at constant prices compared to the same period last year. Among the three industrial sectors, production increased in the mining industry by 26.7%, but decreased in the energy sector by 12.6% and in manufacturing by 5.3%.

Senior analyst of the Statistics Department Riina Kadarik (Rina Kadarik) noted that production in the manufacturing sector has been declining for the fifth consecutive month. “In the largest manufacturing sector – wood processing industry – the decline was two percent. In June, food production also decreased again by 3.3%. The volume of the food industry has been decreasing for the sixth consecutive month compared to the same period last year, but in June, compared to May, the decline slowed down,” she explained.
In June, production increased in one-third of manufacturing branches but decreased in two-thirds. Among the five largest branches, besides wood processing and food production, a decline was also recorded in the manufacture of metal products (1.5%) and in the manufacture of computers, electronic and optical equipment (13.2%).

At the same time, as in May, the production of electrical equipment increased by 6.3%.
The decrease in production volumes was also influenced by a decline in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment, caused by a reduction in civil ship repair and maintenance services, as well as a significant decline in the furniture industry.
