However, in the local championships, the last victory was celebrated on May 25th against the now non-existent Vilnius „Riteriai“. The club does not even have these points in the table. Since it was announced that the capital’s club was removed from the championship, all earned and lost points were annulled in the table.
So the last official victory in the Toplyga was achieved only on… May 2nd against Marijampolė’s „Sūduva“.

The other victory this season was won on April 18th against „Panevėžys“. That is all. That is how many victories the Šiauliai team has – two wins, seven draws, and thirteen losses.
And decisions were made. On April 13th, Latvian Jurgis Pučinskis stepped down from the team’s helm. At that time, the club stated that his assistant M. Kuklys would be the interim coach, but the interim period lasted a long time. On the evening of August 4th, they said goodbye to the former footballer.
„There is not just one problem with the game, everything is complex. Since the beginning of the season, there were mistakes in the squad formation, we had to say goodbye to coach Jurgis, M. Kuklys started working.

It again took time for the players to understand his wishes and demands. Not all things could be conveyed to him…,“ said „Šiauliai“ director Deivis Kančelskis. He emphasized that the fans gathering in Gytariai do not deserve such a poor team period.

– There were many injuries, failures. Players suffered injuries even before the championship, everything got out of order again. All things considered, this is how it turned out. We really did not expect such results, neither did the shareholders, the community, nor the sponsors. We analyze mistakes a lot ourselves and solve everything. The most painful thing is that we lose at home, in front of our own spectators.
During the conversation, it became clear that after the eighth consecutive loss in the Toplyga, the doors of the „Šiauliai“ office were opened more than once. There were many meetings and talks with the team. D. Kančelskis told 15min that winds of change were already blowing in the City of the Sun.
As long as we can, we will take appropriate actions
„We fully understand the whole situation. We have high expectations, we feel a great responsibility towards the fans, and as long as we can, we will take appropriate actions,“ commented D. Kančelskis.
It turned out that this was a change in the coaching staff. However, this may not be the end yet.
