According to J. Olekas, it is unclear why „the public broadcaster’s journalist needed exactly such a recording device at our party event and for what purpose it was brought“.
According to the politician, clarity is also desired regarding the publicly mentioned internal LRT instructions, which were discussed when commenting on this situation.
„Moreover, I do not understand why, as was claimed, when that recording device was lost, it was not searched for?“ – added the Speaker of the Seimas.
Law enforcement determined that the pen belonged to LRT journalist Eglė Samoškaitė, but no objective data was obtained that she sought to collect information about the political party by recording the LSDP council meeting with the device left behind.
E. Samoškaitė herself admits that the pen belonged to her but denies leaving the device at the mentioned meeting.

The decision to terminate the investigation was made upon establishing that no act was committed that had signs of a crime or a criminal offense.
Such a decision can be appealed to a higher prosecutor. J. Olekas claims to have no information regarding the party’s decisions on this matter.
LSDP leader, Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius stated that a decision on the complaint will be made after a detailed assessment of the prosecutor’s arguments, while his first deputy Robertas Duchnevičius assured BNS that he sees the need to appeal the decision.
In turn, LRT initiated an internal investigation regarding E. Samoškaitė’s possible breach of work duties, and the Journalists’ Professional Association announced that it has removed the journalist from its ranks.
