As reported by Poland’s Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, two Polish F-16 fighters intercepted a Russian Il-20M aircraft on Tuesday before noon.
“This time, our aircraft pair on duty intercepted a Russian reconnaissance aircraft 56 km northwest of Koszalin,” wrote W. Kosiniak-Kamysz.
The ministry’s press representative Janusz Sejmej stated that the Russian aircraft did not violate Polish airspace.

According to the defense minister, Russia is again conducting provocations near NATO borders to test the Alliance’s vigilance and the readiness of its air defense systems.
The minister reported the latest incident on Monday, when a Russian reconnaissance aircraft was intercepted 60 kilometers from the country’s coast in the Baltic Sea.

W. Kosiniak-Kamysz indicated that the Russian aircraft was in international airspace and did not violate Polish airspace. However, according to him, it flew without a submitted flight plan and with its transponder turned off.
“The Polish Armed Forces constantly monitor the situation and take action to protect Poland’s borders,” the minister wrote on the social network X on Monday.
The Il-20 is a military reconnaissance aircraft used to gather intelligence on radars, communications, and air defense systems.
