As reported by the service on Monday, during the inspections on July 25, five convicts were found to be intoxicated by alcohol or other psychoactive substances. Due to the violations, they were immediately returned to the places of sentence execution.
Another four convicts were not found at their place of residence during the inspections, where they were required to be according to the conditions of their short-term leave.
Most violations were found in the Vilnius and Kaunas regions – three each, and in the Alytus, Šiauliai, and Marijampolė regions – one each.
Disciplinary measures were imposed on all nine persons who committed violations.

Two convicts were given seven days of isolation and one – 30 days of isolation. Another six were fined 50 euros each, payable to the Social Support Fund for Convicts.
The LKT noted that the right to a short-term leave to go home is granted based on the convict’s behavior, progress in serving the sentence, and other criteria. Upon receiving permission for temporary leave, convicts must comply with the established conditions, violation of which entails legal consequences.
The right to such leaves is granted to convicts serving sentences in the light group of semi-open type correctional facilities, except for certain exceptions.
