Circumstances of Motiejus Lisauskas' death become clear: Three drowned in Nida, firefighters and rescuers fought for their lives

According to the Fire and Rescue Department, the tragedy occurred on Sunday afternoon at the northern beach of Nida. At 13:49, a distress call was received from beach lifeguards reporting that a person had disappeared in the water. It turned out that there were three people in the sea in total: two managed to save themselves, and the third was pulled out by rescuers who gathered forces.

After the man was carried to the shore, the fight for his life began immediately. Beach lifeguards, firefighters, and the on-duty medic started resuscitation and performed heart massage without delay. Later, the relay was taken over by arriving emergency medical specialists. Unfortunately, after nearly an hour of intensive efforts, at 14:41 the medics had to declare the young man’s death. This painful event shocked not only M. Lisauskas’s family but also friends and the entire Lithuanian sports world.

Žmonės.lt reminds that on Sunday news spread that a man drowned in the Baltic Sea in Nida in the afternoon, confirmed by Klaipėda County Police spokeswoman Asta Kažukauskienė.

“According to preliminary police data, at about 13:48 a report was received that a person was drowning in the sea in Nida,” said the police spokeswoman.

“He was resuscitated, but unfortunately, revival was unsuccessful,” she stated.

It was later revealed that the drowned man was Motiejus Lisauskas.
