The accident occurred shortly after midnight on Saturday on the D52 highway near Pohorželici in the southern part of the country, with vehicles traveling in the direction of the city of Brno.

“The first car stopped because it collided with wild boars. The second car stopped behind it. Unfortunately, the driver of another car was apparently driving at high speed and crashed into both stationary vehicles,” said David Chaloupka, a spokesperson for the Czech police.

Two women died at the scene despite attempts to resuscitate them. A severely injured man and two children were taken to hospitals in Brno, one child by helicopter. Later, one of the injured children died, increasing the death toll to three, reports “TVP World”.

A mother, son, and family friend died

A fundraising campaign organized by relatives confirmed the identities of the victims – Polish mother Patrycja, one of her sons Hubert, and family friend Magda.

The woman’s husband Marcin and second son Tymon survived but suffered serious injuries and remained in the hospital.

The fundraising campaign was organized to cover the costs of transporting the victims’ bodies to Poland, funeral expenses, as well as the treatment and rehabilitation costs of the survivors.

By Monday morning, the amount collected had already exceeded the target of 250,000 zlotys (58,000 euros), and donations continued to flow in.

The highway was closed for several hours while emergency services worked at the scene. The Czech police are investigating all the circumstances of the accident.
