A. Lichachyov stated that the ship sank on the night of August 1 in the Black Sea, 130 miles from Novorossiysk, after two attacks by Ukrainian naval drones.
All 17 crew members were rescued, writes the portal “Unian”.
“When the ship began to sink, its crew left it in an organized and coordinated manner. All 17 crew members were rescued, their condition is good,” the company stated on the “Telegram” platform.
The head of “Rosatom” claims that it was a “regular peaceful ship” carrying civilian goods.
“It was the simplest peaceful container ship sailing in international waters and carrying civilian goods – from frozen products to construction and finishing materials. Such an attack can only be regarded as piracy and maritime robbery,” he complained.
As the “Telegram” channel “Astra” writes, based on data from the company “Fesco” website, the container ship “Fesco Janina” joined the company’s fleet in September 2021. The ship’s length is 142 meters, width – 22 meters, deadweight – 13,007 tons, capacity – 962 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units).
The container ship’s crew usually consists of 14 people.
Earlier, the media wrote that Russia began installing new electronic warfare systems on its large ships to protect against Ukrainian drone attacks. The complex, called “Perojed-M,” was spotted on four Russian Navy ships.
Meanwhile, the US company “ReconCraft” plans to produce hundreds, and later thousands, of “Magura” naval drones annually at its factories in Oregon and South Carolina.
