Lithuania has lodged a protest with Russia over the damaged embassy in Kyiv, demanding compensation for the damage

“The protest note handed to the Russian representative by the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the attack carried out by Russia last night, as well as the damage to the Lithuanian embassy building in Kyiv and the threat posed to the safety of the Lithuanian diplomatic mission staff,” the MFA statement says.

According to Lithuania, such actions grossly violate the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

The protest note also emphasizes that, after conducting a thorough assessment, Lithuania will demand that Russia compensate for the damage caused by this shelling and “reserves the right to take other retaliatory measures against the Russian Federation.”
