The guy who took a photo of the store sign had to explain himself to the security guard: "Since when are there such rules?"

„I entered Maxima, found an interesting little store. I took a photo of the name so I could look at the assortment at home. I keep walking, a security guard approaches me. He says: „Good day, what are you photographing here? You entered the store and took a photo of something.“ I answered that I took a photo of the name, I wanted to look at the assortment. And he says to me: „Did you know that you are not allowed?“ I ask if it is not allowed to photograph the name? No, he replied, it is not allowed to photograph people and demanded to see the photo,“ said Paulius.

The guy claims that the “Zoolita” employee even closed the store to catch up with him. The Vilnius resident showed the photo, and seeing that only the store sign was actually photographed, the store employee and later the Maxima security guard who approached said nothing more to him.

„Very strange, since when are there such rules? After all, many people take photos in stores,“ Paulius wondered.

They answered what is not allowed to be photographed

In a comment sent to 15min, the “Zoolita” store stated that the store team clarified this situation with the employee.

„He explained that it seemed to him that the customer was photographing him specifically. Following Maxima’s internal rules, which prohibit photographing employees indoors, he, together with the security guard, approached to clarify the situation. After confirming that only the store sign was photographed, the misunderstanding was resolved on the spot. We sincerely apologize for this situation and for any unpleasant emotions your reader may have experienced,“ said the representatives of “Zoolita.”

However, Maxima’s head of media relations Ernesta Vareikytė told 15min that each store sets its own rules.

„Tenants themselves are responsible for the rules in the stores, the behavior of their employees, and communication with visitors. In case of a misunderstanding between a buyer and an employee of a tenant operating in the shopping center, Maxima’s security guard reacted and helped resolve the situation,“ said E. Vareikytė.
