The British publication „The Financial Times“ reported the day before that D. Trump said he was not sure whether Washington would allow Ukraine to produce the „Patriot“ type surface-to-air interceptor missiles.
This issue, considered one of Kyiv’s top priorities, was discussed this week at a meeting between D. Trump and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House.
After the meeting, V. Zelensky said that D. Trump agreed to grant Ukraine a license to produce „Patriot“ missiles, but the US president only said that „many things were discussed“ and „the meeting went very well!“.
In a phone interview with „The Financial Times“, D. Trump said he was not sure about this issue and added that „we are looking into it“.

„This is a very extraordinary weapon, and (…) we have to be a bit careful about who we give a license to. We don’t really license equipment,“ the publication quoted the Republican president.
Russia has intensified ballistic missile strikes in Ukraine, and only the American „Patriot“ systems can shoot them down.
Earlier this month, D. Trump expressed an intention to allow Ukraine to produce „Patriot“ interceptor missiles.
