As reported by the Ministry of the Interior (VRM) on Friday, the inspection was initiated after 13 officers were detained during a pre-trial investigation – 10 police officers and three State Border Guard Service officers suspected of collaborating with individuals involved in smuggling.

Considering this information, as well as questions raised in the public space regarding the police response to reports of possible corruption-related acts, the VRM established a commission to assess the actions of the Police Department leadership in organizing corruption prevention and internal control.
