“It is obvious that the EU must immediately take all necessary measures and consider all options, including suspending Schengen cooperation. Uncontrolled immigration poses a threat to Europe and Denmark,” emphasized Mette Frederiksen in a statement sent to the news agency AFP.

The escalation at the Spain-Morocco border began after an increase on Wednesday in migrants trying to reach this small enclave, mostly by swimming.
Giorgia Meloni threatened
This chaos resonated in Italy, which is another important migrant route. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni threatened to suspend the Schengen Agreement on open borders with respect to Spain, “to defend our borders and ensure the safety of our citizens,” although Italy does not share a border with Spain.
On Friday, Finland expressed support for Italy’s call to remove Spain from the visa-free Schengen area, as the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in Morocco faces an influx of tens of thousands of migrants.
“Spain has completely failed to protect the external border of the Schengen area from infiltration. This cannot continue,” said Finland’s Minister of the Interior Mari Rantanen on the social network X. “Countries that do not fulfill their duty to protect the external border cannot be Schengen members.”
During this influx of migrants from Morocco to the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in North Africa, about 60,000 people entered, local regional president Juan Jesus Vivas told journalists earlier on Friday.
According to him, many of them entered the enclave by swimming around the border fence extending into the water.
He also reported that at least 34 people died trying to enter Ceuta from Morocco.
Meanwhile, the Spanish Ministry of the Interior stated that more than 25,000 migrants have already returned from Ceuta to Morocco.
According to Spanish officials, Rabat and Madrid are negotiating measures to return recently arrived individuals.
