Meteorologists warn of dangerous heat, thunderstorms, and hail

Forecaster Elvyra Latvėnaitė writes on her Facebook page that Friday will be the warmest, and in some places the hottest day of the week. There will be occasional thunderstorms with rain, and hailstones may even fall in the evening. On Saturday morning and during the day, almost everywhere will be heavily and noisily watered, with an even higher chance of hail, especially in the southern and eastern districts. Although it will cool down a bit in the western districts, it will still be very warm in most parts of Lithuania.

Thunderstorms will continue into Sunday night, mostly in the northeastern and eastern districts. Sunday and Monday will be drier but slightly cooler.

Meteo.lt warns that in the Telšiai, Šiauliai, Tauragė, Kaunas, and Marijampolė counties, very high temperatures will persist all day on Friday until 7 p.m. In many places, the highest air temperature will reach 30-33 degrees Celsius.

There is also a warning about dangerous thunderstorms, which may occur from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. During the thunderstorms, wind gusts of 15–18 m/s are forecast in some areas.

Meanwhile, the Alytus, Vilnius, and Panevėžys counties should avoid thunderstorms, but there is a warning about very high temperatures. In many places, the highest air temperature will also reach 30-33 degrees Celsius.

The Utena and Klaipėda counties should avoid dangerous phenomena.
