According to the news agency “Saba” associated with the Houthis, an official from the Foreign Affairs Bureau of the movement stated that “rumors that the ship was hit by Yemen at the port of Damietta in the Arab Republic of Egypt are unfounded.”

The Egyptian government earlier on Thursday reported that the fire at the Damietta port the previous day was caused by a drone attack.
This was the first such attack against the country since the start of the war in the Middle East.
Officials reported that two gas ships were damaged in Wednesday’s fire. The UK-based private security monitoring service “Ambrey” indicated that the fire broke out after a drone attack on a US-owned and operated floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage vessel.
Although energy facilities in other parts of the region have been targeted by drones and missiles during the US and Israeli war with Iran, Egypt had so far avoided this.

The Cabinet reported that a preliminary investigation of the incident found that “it was caused by a drone,” and noted that no one has claimed responsibility.
The government added that the investigation is ongoing to “determine the circumstances of the incident and take necessary measures to protect Egypt’s interests and national security.”
The port authority stated in a report that despite the attack, the port is operating normally.
“Ambrey” reported that at least one unidentified drone hit the US-owned and operated floating storage vessel, and the fire on the second ship “is related to this incident.”
