London Stock Exchange index FTSE 100 reached its highest level in history

The index reached the 10,951.06 point mark and exceeded the previous record – 10,934.94 points, reached at the end of February, but around midday it fell again below the 10,900 point mark.

The rise of the FTSE 100 index was driven by good performance results of several companies included in it. Rio Tinto shares rose about 1.8%, the company announced a sharp increase in second-quarter profits and outlined plans to further reduce costs and strengthen cash generation, reports Trading Economics.
